FALL FOR SHEL (All over again)
Monday, Septemeber 20, 8pm - Midnight
With help and support from Tonic, The Madagascar Institute, and Kayrock Screen Printing. Nurses. Doctors. Medicine. Hospital Food. X-rays. And other sick stuff to entertain you.
Japanther rocks it like no one can and is graciously playing this show after having already toured for six weeks!!! Torch Job began at Burningman in 1999 and has since turned into a cult punk carnival of three chord inexplicable amazingness. This is a benefit concert for Shel Kimen (kleverVice) with bands, DJs, and dark humor to raise much needed funds for her 20 foot fall (March 5th, 2004) from a very high wall onto very hard concrete floor in the name of art (i.e. setting up for a big art event/party she got really hurt). Shel broke her right arm (and has a permanent titanium plate holding it together), her shoulder, four ribs, her pelvis in three places, her sacrum (tailbone), lacerated her liver, and tore open her insides enough to have blood draining from her chest for two weeks. There's more but we'll leave it at that... She spent two and a half weeks at Bellevue Hospital and then four weeks at NYU Rusk Institute trying to learn how to stand up again. Then she went to Florida to convalesce with mom and dad for seven weeks until she was able to stand on both feet (late may). She returned to New York on June 6th with a cane and a lot of debt. The whole thing is kind of gory and intense and despite health insurance, extraordinarily expensive. Thank you to everyone - my friends and family - for all your support and love thus far. It would be great to see you at Tonic on the 20th, but click this if you want to skip the shenangins and just donate something. love ./s[ home ] [ mzk ] [ wrdz ] [ ./kleverVice ] |
